Q6700 mobo

Would the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L be able to get the q6700 to a decent overclock? It's a cheap mobo w/o many features but I've heard it is decent overclocker.

It definitely will give you at least some overclock. I'd say it really depends on what you mean by 'decent'. I might be wrong, but I don't think it really matters what processor you use with it - all that matters is as long as the mobo supports the CPU, your overclocking potential is only limited by the FSB you can get out of it. AFAIK, just about any DS3L can go up to 500 pretty easy, which with q6700 would give you 5Ghz if you can cool it at that speed (man, I'd like to see that )

Since q6700 on air won't bring you beyond 3.8ghz, you don't need anything above 400FSB, which you're guaranteed on any DS3L... except the one that's DOA.

Yes. I had mine running an E2140 up to 440 FSB or so. Granted, Q's are a bit tougher, but you should be able to max that puppy out on air with that mobo.

Is has the capability to OC the quad core, but it isnt as good as the high end boards due to the bios adjustments. IE, it can increase NB voltage by +0.1v at a time, where as many of the high end boards can go in +.025v increments. So it doesnt really allow for fine tuning. The current motherboards struggle to OC a quad core CPU past 450FSB. While dual cores can go beyond 500 FSB, this just isnt the case when running quads (limit of the chipset).
