might just be your Q6600 and not the mobo, what FSB are you at? What is the batch # of the CPU? What is it's VID?

Well , I would say the P35DK T2RS. I believe it was designed with quads in mind due to the GTL voltage options. I do agree, though, that it is a CPU limitation and not a mobo one.

what FSB speed are you running?

what are your voltages?

Which memory strap are you using?

These can all be factors. However the chip itself maybe a factor as well.

I can't imagine that the P5E can't hit 445 FSB (9x multi) however, the voltage options on the motherboard may not be as conducive to overclocking a Q6600 as let's say a DFI LT P35 or DFI LT X38.

i wouldn't recommend this motherboard due to the lack of an 8phase digital PWM (they only have a 4 phase). The 8 phase becomes important in maintaining high stable overclocks at reasonable temps.

Microman had his Q6600 up to 4.1GHz with the Gigabyte X38 DQ6. He said it was better then the other X38 boards, and by far offered the highest FSB overclock on a quad core for him so far.

Thanks Eric, thats what I am looking for. I think Cog has a Striker II and her Q6600g0 is past 4.0ghz?

Last I saw, she had it at 3.9GHz stable, so that board might be another good choice.

On another note, have you tried to get more out of your P5E board by flashing to the Rampage Formula bios? I dont know how much better of a CPU OC you can get, but the newest 401 bios might help.
