To SP3 or Not SP3

Thread Starter
Should I update to Service Pack 3 or hold off. I'm reading a lot of people are having problems with their SP3s, so I wasn't sure if it was safe. But then I'm reading people who install from the full installer and not Windows Update are having a good time.

It totally fawked up my computer. BSODs instantly every time windows loads. I have to reformat it now. I used the full installer, not the Windows update. Just thought I'd warn you.

Puh-lease don't install it......it ended up in an unusual crash for me(And I had to install windows again) and if you try to uninstall SP3(if you're uncomfortable with it), it again results in a crash!.....imo, it needs some revisions to make it more stable.

It's better to install SP3 on a clean Windows installation.

At first I was one of the peeps that got the "Cannot Update a Checked (Debug) System with a Free (Retail) Version of Service Pack 3 error" with the .exe file, That was fixed " http://www.overclock.net/software-ne...ml#post3826620 " but that is not what I did, I was not able to connect to any ms site at all"like msupdate" I think that was from the ms sites being overflowed by millions of downloads ect, what I did, I gave up trying for a day or so and then tried downloading again, finally I was able to connect, download the ISO file, I was able to connect and download the file in 15 min. or so, mounted it with power ISO and boom the install worked flawlessly.

Yes Installing it will be fine.

SP3 is essentially all the updates that Microsoft have released since SP2 bundled into one.. So provided you kept your PC up to date with updates and released from MS, you already have it..

Or that's what i heard at least.
