Well, there was an interview where Kojima said he had to scale the game back to get it all to fit on a Blu Ray disk. And if that's true, then there's no way it could come out for 360, unless it required a $200+ add-on drive that doesn't even exist yet, lol.

I don't know why these thread always turns into wars. Come on, seriously, grow up. Who the heck cares if one system pwns the other one?
dude .. get over it... i was being sarcastic... this whole argument and discussion is totally useless... people are going to buy both.. but in the end the facts remain. ps3 faultered at launch.. xbox360 more popular.. wii very popular.. everyone wins...

And about the Bluray.. it's about the games being bluray.. not really the movies.. people will always watch movies.. but honestly.. sometimes it's a hassle to find ther bluray movie you want. alot of people use on demand and ppv.. yeah people still go to the movie rental store and get brd.. but the selection is still limited... sony did good for the long run of their product just not very well for the short term(launch period)..

Oh well.. it's just the same story over and over again !

Oh, yeah, dur. Good point. I didn't even think about that. I was thinking back when a few places were taking pre-orders for the 360 version that hadn't been anounced yet. Everyone was questioning whether there would be one or not and Kojima shot it down basically stating that this would truly be a PS exclusive.

Oh please. The only reason he's having trouble fitting MGS on blu-ray is because he's not compressing anything. He's just trying to make up a reason to delay the game probably. The longer he delays the more restless the natives become and thus demand increases. This has been talked about already. I'm not even somewhat interested in MGS.

Its funny how as soon as one of these 360 is winning threads come up all of the PS3 fanboys rush in to quote arguments from past PS3 is winning articles that have have already been discussed and disproven, yes I'm talking to you pow3rtr1p!

The simple fact is that if, instead of buying the 9 360 games that I own, and settled with the 3 or 4 that PS3 and Wii owners typically have, I could have bought either console! So Nintendo has sold 6 million more consoles than Microsoft, it doesn't matter because Microsoft has sold on average 61 million more games...

Console gamers don't care about PC's they care about which system has better games and which one plays them better. Limitations has nothing do with the console niche sense it's widely accepted that you can't change the hardware. Besides console are mostly likely more powerful then the average consumer desktop/laptop. So technically for the average computer user who shops at BB,CC,MC, and so forth, their computer is the limitation in terms of hardware out of the box unless they felt spending 800+(thats with a monitor and printer)

But since console processors work with liner operations unlike PC processors, PC have the versatility that console can't offer.

Community size and online, yes, but you have to pay extra for that every year. XBox Live was a lot of fun, but once I started playing PC games online, it just seemed silly to pay for any online, MMO or otherwise. And besides that, games like FFXI require additional online fees on top of the Live fee. Granted the Gamerscore system, and most of what the XBox Live system offers, is awesome, but Steam is starting to offer all of that stuff on their PC games for free. Makes me wonder how much longer XBox Live can charge what they charge and succeed, though I don't doubt it will still be around for some time.
Lets point out the things wrong with this arguement.

1. No PS3 is fully BC now except one which contained the emotion chip. That console is no longer being produced. Also the 80 gig only offered BC through emulation which only had about a 70% success rate in terms of compatibility. That one is currently no longer produced except for the MGS special edition bundle. Currently only the 40 gig is on sale which has no BC options for it what so ever. Not even through software which MS actually attempted with. So technically at current retail stores the 360 has more BC features then the PS3. Funny how one of Sony's arguments was that people love BC but take it right out from everyone's nose unless you actually read gaming news.

2. The cost of live isn't that costly. Matter of fact, save $4.16 a month and you can afford live. Hmm maybe not have that burger from BK, Wendy's, MCD? Also, if you have the ability to A. buy the console, B. Afford high speed internet C. And afford junk food out in the street which is over priced, You can afford live.

3. As for MMOs on live. You DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR LIVE IF YOU ARE PLAYING MMOs. Live service and FFXI are two separate entities so you only have to pay the 12 dollars a month for FFXI and thats it. But hey, if you can afford 12 dollars a month or 144 dollars a year on a game like FFXI or WoW, then you can afford live

4. Last time i checked Steam doesn't offer in depth coverage of events like E3 or X'07 and what not. With the in depth coverage, you also get the game demos that people are playing at E3, Tokyo Game show, and what not. Steam does not also offer movie downloads(some free), Steam does not offer tv show downloads from major network(even though i feel tv is boring), Steam does not offer IPTV which is coming in the future if MS does it right. (i like steam for TF2)

5.People will pay for live cause it's a system that works with little problems. Plus it's cheat/mod(bad mods, glitches do not count as cheats) free completely. You also get more features that PSN lacks. And please don't bring up the home thing because thats just a carbon copy of the sims.

If every one was using their PS3 as a blu-ray player and nothing more? Then yes you might be correct, but since the main purpose people were suppose to buy the ps3 which was to play games, then you are sadly mistaken. Currently the ps3 has the least sold consoles and if i'm not mistake also has the lowest attach rate of games(or am i thinking of the wii) It's the number of consoles plus the number of games sold that are the driving force behind whether a console does good. A few console sold = smaller market = less devs making exclusives and spending time on that console because the return is going to be not as good as say the 360.

Blu-ray in and of it's self does not improve the game in any way shape or form, all it does is allow you fit everything on one disc and thats it. Technically movies on DVDs can give the same picture quality that blu-ray, but since DVDs don't have enough space on them without breaking up the movie, it would be pointless to produce for dvd.

with games, it just gives devs some more space to work with, it's the console it's self that determines whether it can produce a better picture then the competition(with work from devs of course.)

So there for blu-ray can't be the deciding factor. Plus we aare nearing the end of the life-cycle(i believe the average console cycle is 5 years) of the current gen. It might be six years for this gen the way things are looking. but only 2 years and change for the 360(if on the 5 year plan). Sony claims the PS3 will have a 10 year cycle. Since we are nearing the end and blu-ray still isn't popular among the consumer unless they own a hi-def TV, it will still lag behind in sales until more people purchase HDTV's.

Currently according to Engadget, only 23% of american owns a HDTV(written April 2007) If i was to guess, i say to this current day, that number is closer to probably about 30-33% now. Still not enough to put blu-ray sales ahead that would help give the ps3 a boost. Plus we would also have to know what number of those people are not gamers and use a standalone pplayer vs a ps3 as a player, thats if they even have a blu-ray player(i'm in that percentage, 6 tvs that can do hi-def, but not one blu-ray player 3 of them are being used as monitors). as well as other numbers.

Then wouldn't it have been better to get a stand alone player since they do a better job at playing movies then the PS3 does?

Metal Gear Solid does not require blu-ray to play. It's only needed if your too lazy to get up and switch the disc after about saying 5 hours of video and maybe 1 hour of gameplay which is one of the things the MGS series is best known for.

Well i read those articles and then i looked at the numbers from sale sites vgchartz and then i look at the attach rate of games. Come sense brings to to say that since the 360 is beating out ps3 in every aspect of console playing so far the ps3 isn't winning anything unless a major boost in sales in both the games and console numbers are concerned. (not hardware, things like number of consoles sold, number of games sold, number of people playing online at any given moment. basically numbers) With MGS coming that will move a nice number of console(i'm buying the MGS version just to have a cheap blu-ray that can play ps2 and some ps3 games) but nothing major that will make it catch up in console sales.

Oh yea, Home will not make people run out and buy a console.

The number of consoles sold is only a small part of the war. To get a real sense of who is winning you have to look at the software sales as well. Taking the latest NPD game attach rates, the latest prices for the consoles, and an average of $60 per game we have

6572 Hardware + 8424 Software = $14996M for the 360
6563 Hardware + 8096 Software = $14659M for the Wii
4948 Hardware + 3414 Software = $8362M for the PS3

I know these aren't very accurate, but I hope it at least shows that console sales alone are nothing. People look at the hardware figures of the Wii and think that Nintendo is dominating the console market, when even in this estimate they are out $300M to MS. The actual numbers, taking into account 360 price drops and the fact that Wii games typically cost less than 360 games show that that number is actually much higher. Realistically it should take into account things like Wii Play and Wii Sports, which practically every Wii owner has, dropping the attach rate for Wii by 1, and tracking the PS3 and 360 price drops as well as the number of people with the Arcade, Elite, and 80GB versions of the PS3 and 360, but that would take hours to do.

The only reason X-Box has better sales. Why? Due to a single phenomena. The same one that propelled PC gaming in the past. The same one that is responsible for the downfall of PC game (sales). Piracy. One can easily tune an X-BOX into running Black market games which can easily be found using a simple search engine.

Xbox has much better games imho. I don't own either consoles, but if I were to buy one, it'd be the 360.
