Pretty Damn Cool when OCN breaks a story before CNN
Data recovered from Columbia disaster
Information found on melted disk drive from shuttle Columbia disaster
The drive had been used to store data from a scientific experiment
Columbia broke apart during re-entry in 2003, killing its seven astronauts
Researchers published results in the April issue of Physical Review E
And a little bit of Space Trivia for you guys
RE the lengthy testing and validation period!
Did ya know, that NASA Astronauts can now take their own music collections up into space via their own Ipods
But, have to leave them on the Shuttle when visiting the ISS
, as they have not yet been certified as "electrically 'Safe'" for use on the International Space Station.
They can take CD players/ Walkmans etc.
The issue is the battery- anything with "regular" approved batteries (Like AA's) is A-OK.
(Although "regular" AA's are not
ones picked off the shelves at WallyWorld on the way to the Cape to "Suit up" for Lauch)
