[Gizmodo] HD Recoved from Columbia Disaster - Page 4

100 mile ether net cable, ez mode.

The reason they used those drives was because they can take high
levels of vibration. you take a few raid 0 raptors into space
and see what happens on re-entry. lol

not to be overly picky, but i believe HDD is the accepted acronym for Hard Disk Drive, so as to avoid confusion with High Definition. :-) i was sitting here wondering where in columbia they recovered high definition, like some kind of idiot (ok, not really).

Wow I wonder what stuff it had on it.
Btw, do space shuttles have a flight data recorder or a c0ckpit voice recorder?

Wow, that really is a small hard drive.

http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.js...reqPage=Legacy

That's weird, because in 1998 I had a 10GB maxtor hdd. It still works to this very day.

This guy's talking about my hard drive http://osdir.com/ml/user-groups.aclu.../msg00089.html lol. OMG A 10GB HDD FOR ONLY $200!

So... Why did this take so long?

And why did they use a 400MB harddrive... They spend billions on the shuttle itself, and put a 8-year old drive in it... Yeah.

Well, whatever shuttles that nasa is building right now probably have new parts in them. The astronauts will be able to play crysis while they are in orbit. Then some crazy aliens break in to the shuttle and nomad breaks them.
