my OC

Thread Starter
Im using the hr-03 air cooler and an 8800gtx, and have good temps. my oc is 650 core, 1000 mem, and 1580 shader. Any more on anything and it crashes the pc.

Will i get better performance if i lower the shader a lot and try increasing the core? or the mem?

i started off with the core and mem and got to a point where id hit a wall, then found out about the shader and realised i could increase it some more.

I think you a pretty good overclock as is. You got a nice balance of core and shader clocks. I think its important to get both as high as possible.

thanks, well i think ill stick then. im not really adapt in oc'ing, i just learned the basics and try to leave it at that. Just another offtopic question: if i buy more ram (going from 2gig to 4gig), do i need to adjust my proc oc? or should it be ok as is (although a possible unstability aspect)

1836 Shaders! nice.....and a 19" monitor?

To the OP: GTX's don't really clock that high unfortunately. Your at about the limit for a GTX to be honest. As for the ram going from 2Gb to 4Gb no you won't have to change anything about your overclock.

thanks for that reply. another question: im thinking of buying another 2gig of ram to make 4gig, and getting hold of xp pro x64, to see if my games like supcom, crysis, wic go any faster with more ram and the 64 bit (even though they dont necesserily need it). any thoughts on this?

vista=more ram usage 64bit vista=2x lower ram usage and faster than xp 64bit.

Go for the vista 64bit.

You should keep those shader clocks, because they really are important for lots of shader processing = moar fps (lol)

Vista 64 faster than XP 64???!?!? Omg I feel terrible now because I just bought XP 64

isnt xp still faster though? i thought that theres a couple of games like Oblivion, and CoD4 which are better now on vista, but most other games are still a good few fps behind. ?

Do you have benchmarks to prove that? I've never seen vista come anywhere close to the performance of any XP.
