i just added more ram into my system... total of 8gigs now... patriot EPP DDR2 800. for some reason it posts but wont load into vista? any ideas?? mobo is a gigabyte ga-m570sli

See if it loads with just your original 4gb. Then try one stick at a time and/or one slot at a time with your new ram.

EDIT: Also, don't AMD boards not like all four slots populated?

How do you mean won't load into Vista? Hard freeze? BSOD?

If your using Vista X64 make sure you have SP1 installed.

That is due to the fact that Vista at first supports 2GB. Try and take the other 6GB out and leave 2GB and you should be fine.

Then go here and download and install it and restart. Then shutdown and install the other 6GB and start the PC again and you should be fine.

Could be your board also try running stock if your overclocked. With my board i found out if you run 4 sticks of ram you cant overclock the bus past 420 or so without their being memory errors and not being able to boot into a os.

Don't know too much about AMD, but you can try to up the NB voltage just a little.

Not exactly. AMD memory controllers prefer 2 sticks to 4. It doesn't mean 4 sticks won't work.

Like others have said, try upping the NB voltage and/or trying each stick individually.
