Ok, 3RLOD, no warranty. Friends X360.

Dissassembled, removed x-clamps, cleaned chips and heatsink. added AS5. (yes i know how much to put, thanks for asking). Used the #8 Washer technique to tighten Heatsink to chip. etc... You get it. So why isn't the console working!! Still get 3RLOD. Let it heat up. Then let it cool down. Tried almost all the things in the book! The ones that make sense. Anyone else NOT successful with this technique? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Okay then.

First, whats your error code? When RROD flashes, press the sync button and hold down, then press eject button. it will change blinking to a different pattern. Press again to get the next number. The error code is a 4 digit number according to this scheme:

all four leds : 0
three: 3
two : 2
one : 1

You will probably get code 0102.

Next, here's my personal favorite: use only 3 washers for the offset mount, 1 washer for CPU mount, and none for GPU.

With the GPU, adjust the machine screws manually until you see the sink fitting very flat on the GPU. You will TEST for maximum heat transfer by turning on w/o shroud or fans. When you have it right, the GPU sink will heat up VERY fast, faster than CPU. Massage for this sweetspot, and then let heat up for five minutes or the 2 ring overheat code (EDIT: This is the 'dirty reball'; the proper pressure on the sink and the heat will reflow a small, hairline solder crack; you should not have to resort to a hot air bath). Unplug immediately, let cool for at least 20 minutes.

add fans and shroud (thats all), and test. Dance with joy when it POSTs.

The reason that most, if not all, Xbox 3 red lights of death occur is because solders break. You have fixed the causes of the breaks, but now you have to fix the solders. Take a Aluminum foil and cover all plastic parts of the mother board, take off the heatsinks, and proceed to hover the heatgun 1 foot away in circular motions for five minutes. Do the same to the back. Put it back together and it should work.

It's not too difficult if you know what you are doing. I have done it twice, no problems.

Please trust me and try my fix before resorting to a heat gun and frying your north bridge...

If you replace the X-Clamps and do a heat fix, it "should" be permanent.

It will be like a pillar of stone in the sea, rising through foam and sky until the end of your children's line and the closing of time as the universe contracts into a single point, only to gush into existence again.

Or thereabouts.
