Need advice on ultimate build - Page 3

I think the velocitoraptors are more hype than performance to be honest. Yeah, faster than a Raptor. Also, you underestimate SAS a tad I think.

But of course.. your choice.

With the Raptors, DO get a dedicated controller card.

Don't get me wrong... the Thermaltake is a great PSU. I just think the Silverstone is a hair better... Those Zeus's are beasts.

And 95A on a 12V rail is enough for anything.

You're not even going to get close to max that out. And if you do... you'll have to rewire your home first to begin with (1200W DC @ 80% efficiency results in a power draw from the wall socket of 1500W.... ouch)
Rewire?

If it takes 1500W from 220V socket (where I live) it will take only 6.8 amps.
That's not very much or is it?

You mean motherboard's controller?

I don't underestimate SAS, I'm afraid of it.

Chozart, I looked your offered controller.
As I understood, it will take a PCI-E slot.
I think it will get tight (3 PCI-E slots on 790i) on the mobo
when installing two GX2's with LCS and one controller.

I am going to cram two dual slot GPUs, a third single slot GPU (yep, I want dual monitors and SLI), and a wireless PCI adapter in my board.

It all fits

Yeah, like I said, I will buy the very best, but I'm not a millionaire (not yet ) so
I'm thinking that is it really worth it to buy $700 controller for some SAS drives,
after all, they are just hard drives:O

Put the GX2's in the bottom 2 16x slots & the controller in the top slot.
