AMD vs Intel my story

Thread Starter
First I’m not asking for grammar corrections …………

I have been a loyal fan for AMD from the first moment that I bought the Duron series.

Right now I have been thinking about crossing to the dark side.

My story.

In the beginning I had my TANDY computer with dual 1.44 yes dual

Then I move to my first gaming computer 486 dx 33 then upgrade to 486 dx 100 with (Duke 3d)

AMD Duron series- Great computer

Althon XP 1.7 better computer( amd was kiking some cpu pins)

FX 51 (Best computer for the time with 9800 XT) But AMD screw me, because they promises upgrade for the SKN8 940 (AGP) and never did it. I was upset because they lied about support (upgrade path)

Then one of my friends bought a new x2 4000 and we benchmark he just whip my comp case.

(X2 6000) I move to X2 6000 with 1950 pro(AGP). Great CPU and video card for the price. By this time amd loss the performance crown completely.

I was loyal but I had in my mind and wallet the reminder of the fx 51 situation.

(FX 74) Knowing that; I upgrade to the best AMD CPU at the moment the FX 74 it perform like intel Q6700. I combine this with the 8800 GT SLI. Then move to quad SLI 9800 gx2 This combination create cpu bottleneck. The decision for the upgrade was because AMD promises an upgrade path for the FX in this mobo with the new octopus(8 core fx agena) few moths later they decide not give support anymore to this mobo. WHAT

This is the second time that they do that, why I was trying to keep my brand loyalty and I get screw. (can I sue because of this?)

The final purchase I bought Phenom 9850 BE. Because the extremely bottleneck. The only option that I have are nvidia chipset because my video cards. I bought the new Nvidia mobo m3n-ht deluxe 780a chipset. And right now I am having a lot of problems with the support that asus give to the bios, Basically my 9850 is running stock. No support at all. I am getting very tire about this. One of the reason that I never support intel was because we need others company in the cpu market, and they seem very corrupts.

I was waiting for the new phenom FX , that is suppose to be release in july 08, but I don’t know what to do. By that time my quad sli will be almost obsolete.

AMD lie to me
Intel seems corrupt .

Eventually amd will have the crown again and later then intel and back and forward.

Do I make the jump ? to Intel

How does Intel seem corrupt?

I would worry more about performance over loyalty, its not like AMD or Intel would be any less likely to backstab you whether you support them or not.

Well, as far as support like that goes, I'd say Intel keeps their word. I've always liked Intel, I don't find their prices to be bad unless you go with their EXTREME model chips, and you can get an amazing machine WITHOUT one, so I don't see the problem with switching. Give it a try and see how you like it, if you don't, I'm sure you can sell the parts and afford AMD stuff again.

Because they are being sued by AMD for unlawful business practices. Now, don't get me wrong, a lawsuit doesn't equal guilt and I do not think AMD wouldn't have done the same thing if the roles were reversed, but that is the general impression. Also, the larger, more succesfull a company is, the more people distrust them.

It is aboout your needs.
If AMD is not meeting your needs and Intel can, go Intel.
AMD meets my needs, so I have an AMD system. If AMD did not meet my needs and Intel could, I would go Intel.

Nooo! Don't go intel.. believe me I feel your pain. But like you said intel is corrupt [[PLS lets not start amd vs intel bash, this is an OPINION]]. I believe strongly in supporting the underdog, in this case it would be AMD. It is really unfortunate what happened to you, but I'd stick with it.. they say Nahelem wont even be able to OC (which is worse than anything ^^)

In the end, intel IS the stronger CPU, but sometimes its not about which is the absolute best...
