Computer Specs for Age of Conan

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I am planning on purchasing a new computer. I want it to be able to run Age of Conan. I have about $750 to spend. Can anyone tell me what the computer should have in order to play AoC well, and if this is enough to afford it? This question is specifically directed towards those who have played AoC beta, and therefore, have some idea of what the game demands. Of course, anyone's input is welcome.

Thanks

Does this include peripherals and a monitor? How about a case?

I would also add that it depends if you intend to take advantage of AoC's DirectX 10 capabilities or if you're satisfied with the DirectX 9.x look of the game.

AoC seems to natively support DX10, x64 and multi-threading.

However, IMHO, i wouldn't worry as much for AoC as for Starcraft II.

I want to buy a motherboard, video card, RAM, and a processor. I've got a monitor. I am going to stick with XP, so I'll be using Dx9.

I've got a keyboard, mouse, and speakers. I might need a new power supply and case, though.

IMO a more capable build for the money. It's just over 750 but there are some mail in rebates included in there. I would recommend the TRUE over the Zalman cooler but they don't have any on newegg.com atm.

The only reason I could see going with a 3870 card is to queeze in the extra money for a Q6600 or Q6700.

EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB - $254.99
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply - $109.99
mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 - $53.99
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 - $89.99
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 - $199.99
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail - $44.99

Subtotal: $753.94
