Xonar D2X, I need help please!!

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
I ordered the XonarD2X. This is my first attempt at installing a new audio card. Before now I used the onboard sound. I ordered the Xonar D2X as an open item. Downloaded the new drivers and still no sound. I am sure I have to disable the onboard sound? Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance and rep++++++

uninstall the onboard drivers, probably ac97 and then go into bios and disable it. If there's an onboard devices section it's probably there

to uninstall sound drivers, check in add/remove programs or in vista program and features. To disable onboard altogether, you will have to go into bios. Is the sound card being detected by the OS ?

I truly don't know. No I don't think it is recognizing it. Although it does have power.

You just need to make sure you have the d2x drivers instead of the D2 ones (D2x being pci-x I'm presuming).

Na the D2X is the pci-e version

Yea I would say make sure you've got the d2x drivers and not the d2 drivers since they are slightly different.

Uninstall the onboard sound drivers through Windows in the Add/Remove list. Restart, boot into BIOS and disable onboard sound. Once you restart the card should at least be recognized in Windows as an "Unkown Device" or something in the Hardware Manager. You should be able to then install the proper drivers.
