How to Clear Cmos - Page 2

You should be able to switch the jumpers with the system off "not unplugged" but just turned off. The battery is still in the motherboard so switching the jumpers will still work. I have had to do this a number of times dealing with the ever finicky DFI motherboards.

Also you can pop the battery out for a few seconds and pop it back will do the same thing, but I suggest the jumpers first even if they do not work right off the bat.

Some manufacturers will state to unplug the PC,but I have done it both ways. Asus did,DFI didn't.

Just pop the cmos battery out for a minute or so, pop it back in and turn on the computer. Tada.

This was a really stupid issue...
For those of you that have owned a P5N32-E, The sound card that comes with the board is a POS... I took it out for some reason, ANd everything works 100%... So i tested it. Put it back in Nothing, Took it out Works..

Asus What were you thinking....

lol, glad to see you got it working. At least you can always get a soundcard for it and not have to use that one. PLUS you now know how to clear the CMOS

How can you destroy your motherboard by following the MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS!?

If using your Clear CMOS jumper in the standard method... jump, power on, power off, unjump... is dangerous why do the manufacturers INSTRUCT you to do this?!

Why in over 20 years in the industry are you the first person i've ever heard say this?!
he means turning it on when the jumper is on the clear....but either way no one said they were going to do that so idk why he posted it.
