What program to use folding?

Thread Starter
Hello all. I am new to folding and im trying to figure out what software to use on my PC. I have a e2180 running at 2.6ghz with 2 gigs of ram. I was thinking of running the SMP but my cpu doesnt have the virtualization on it. Not sure if it needs that. Im not sure if thats why i cant get it to install or not. I also want to stick to running it on XP. Any help would be great. My wife lost her father a year ago to cancer and i feel this is a good way to stick it to the cancer bug. Thank you again for your time.

SMP should work. Visualization is only for VMWare + Linux setups usually.

To install SMP, check out Mega_Option101's guide. It's essentially the same for XP.

Gratz! You should join one of the teams that we got running I think theres a few teams that need a member, or you could start your own! Its a great way to get to know other folders.

if you want to keep track of your progress, see what project you working, etc. download fahmon, its a nice little program that gives you all the info on your projects. you can also use fahmon to benchmark(to see how fast your folding on each project).

This thread explains a lot if your not understanding it completely. You can always ask questions too. No questions is a stupid question, especially when it comes to folding. The common goal here is to find a cure, it is not merely a competition (but thats what makes it fun).
