Why would he need a cas higher than 6? That would make the ram ungodly slow, I highly doubt he would need to loosen that past 5 for stability.

Lapping is just sanding to make something perfectly flat and smooth to allow the best heat transfer.

Until then ill just keep my CPU clocked at 2.8 because it seems to work fine there.

Thanks for all the help

I'm out of here, can't think straight need sleep. You can put the new cooler on with out lapping but their are plenty of guides for lapping here and it's easy to do,flatness is the most important thing not getting it to a mirror finish unless you want to spend the extra time. You could also do you CPU if you feel brave.Don't worry about the async latency, your MB doesn't appear to have the setting.

Lethal, if you do decide to lap like James suggested, here is the guide that I followed: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...ltake-big.html

Good luck

Check the link in my sig for cheap zalmans, if you pick up a zalman 9500NT(must get the NT, or buy an extra am2 bracket). It will cool a ton better than the ac pro. You could also try to give your ram a tiny bit more voltage, you could try 2.125v. Also you could notch up your voltage to the cpu to like 1.475. Generally speaking 60C is the stopping point on am2 socket cpus. 70C is melting point. 55C is long term good, if you don't intend to fold or run the cpu at 100% full time then you should be alright. Just watch that full load doesn't exceed 60C.

Thanks dude i'll probably get one of those zalmans. there to good of a deal not to

and as far as voltage goes ive tried 1.475 for vcore and 1.20 for memory still wouldnt stay stable but maybe with a zalman things will change

btw is it that much of a diference between a CNPS9700 NT and a CNPS9500 NT?

Ummm 3C-5C, to the favor of the 9700, also the 9700 comes with the am2 bracket included. You might ask the guy might just give you an am2 bracket. I have been able to give my 5000BE 1.55v on the zalman 9700 and get 52C under load. At the same voltage on the 9700 I get 57C. I have a 9500NT and a 9700 Led(not the NT).
