Definatly Vista X64 - Up untill Three weeks ago i was unsure about Vista until i bought it, installed it and now i love it. Great OS. SP1 seems to of sorted quite a few bugs out and i have had no BSOD's, Lock ups or Driver problems whatsoever since install. Really really good. Deffinatly needs 4GB of decent fast RAM to run smoothly with latest games like Crysis and COD4 and all the Vista extras and desktop Goodies turned on.
It does use alot of memory (1.2GB on mine @ desktop aero/sidebar on and with antivirus running)but if you have 4GB thats more than enough.

Vista 64 is far superior to XP 64, mainly because of the better driver support. There is really no reason not to get 64bit, especially with how cheap RAM is. I had XP64 before I went TO Vista and it was a real pain with the drivers and a waste of money. You also get DX10 in Vista. Now that SP1 is out, Vista is doing much better. And about the RAM thing, each new operating system uses more resources. Same thing with the switch from Windows 2k to XP. Everyone thought it was too much of a resource hog.

I'd get Vista 64-bit. I have Quad and 4 gbs of ram too. I'm mainly going to use Vista for DX10 and the full usage of 4 GB of RAM or more.
