is E8400 Better Than Q6600 in 3dmark06 benchmark?

Thread Starter
you can see my rig below and i am confused if i can overclock a E8400 past 4.5ghz compare to my q6600 at 3.7ghz which gave me a 3dmark06 score of 19,000, would it increase my 3dmark06 score? if i use a E8400 4.5ghz than my Q6600 3.7ghz?

I don't think the E8400 is better for 3dmark than the Q's in general. I will say, though, it makes absolutely no sense in choosing a CPU based on one synthetic benchmark. 3dmark is a useful tool, but it in no way reflects true gaming performance. If you already have a quad, I would stick with it. It is better for overall PC tasks while the E8400 is really only better at games.

Yes Quad is better at mark3D because mark supports multiple threading so quads own mark3d
