I've been waiting them to die ever since Lechmere's was going down and CC was like Beast Buy now. In 10 years, Beast Buy will go down. Isn't capitalism wonderful? So many choices!

BlockBuster plus Circuit City is kind of an unholy alliance though... "I'd like 2gb of corsair value select and a copy of Iron Man on blu-ray please. And popcorn. And compressed air."

Rofl Abilor. Yeah, gonna be wierd "Would you like to buy that movie or rent it?" Seriously though, this kinda spooks me, I'm the lead PC tech at my store (as sad as that is, lol) and only reason i stay is money ahnd health insurance. Pregnant wife, I can't afford to lose that inusrance, I can live off less pay then I'm getting now but not without that HI. So if my store closes, I'm seriously !~@%ed.

yea i work for circuit city and my store manager was telling me that they dismissed the bid by blockbuster already saying that we have about 8x as much money in the bank as they do (them having 100mil). IMO, its a good move and will give communities something different to experience and shop at.

Wait.. So what if he decided to buy like a 65" TV with no interest to 2011? Would that be a technicality for never paying it off?

I worked there way back in 2000 when i graduated. When i got hired in the audio section ( back when it was commission and you HAD to learn your s#!t about audio and video ) i told them I was going to have knee surgery. Well i have the surgery and to show how much I was dedicated, i worked with a full leg brace and crutches and with my knee swelling up to twice it's size if i stood up for more than 20 min at a time.

Well the store manager was a d!ck and he said it wasn't professional for me to be sitting down while at the job ( despite the leg ).

Another time I, and about 5 other college students went on spring break. Because we took a week and a half of vacation time. I also either caught a weird virus and I missed an extra week. We obviously weren't able to make monthly numbers and we were written up for it. Somewhere in there I guess the manager KNEW that state law forbids him from counting vacation time against us, but decided to do it anyways.

Lies! I just went to CC yesterday!

But seriously, though, I can understand why. They're just like BB. Most of their merchandise is overpriced by at least $10.

If a product retails at $29.99, they HAVE to sell it at least $3 more than that. For example, there was the Logitech Rumblepad 2. It retails at $29.99. They just HAD to jack the price up to $32.99.

That's why you're doing so poorly, ya jerks. Target and Newegg and Fry's are my friends

The stores are going out-of-business, however, the internet sales will not.

A decade ago, a company called EggHead a national chain of computer/electronic outlet stores.

The company folded those retail stores and reorganized into ... NEWEGG

It seems that Circuit City may follow those same steps shortly.

Other than computer/electronics, both Montgomery Ward & the Woolworth stores followed the same pattern EggHead did.

With the exception that the Woolworh stores closed, transitioned and is now known as FootLocker.

Much of this can be found on Wikipedia BTW.

NewEgg and Directron have been selling appliances in the past year or so knowing that the on-line retail market is going to be swamped with eRetailers that once had big name and retail brands in local cities.

Time will tell how CC evolves.
