Sounds like people who use Linux for a few minutes then hate it instantly when they discover that it isn't XP lol

It didn't sound snappy at all. I think he made a legitimate point.

Seeing how there is such little difference between DX9 and DX10, I guess I wouldn't mind DX9 forever.

I have to agree. vista is nice and all, but for the price, I, personally, can't justify purchasing it. They could have done a much better job with it, and maybe then I'd consider the steep price.

vista isn't horrible; it just isn't worth the money.

But "50+ FPS" compared to "below 50 FPS" does not constitute less then half. Your comment was that, "performance was less then half!" I was picturing your FPS going from 50 FPS in XP, to below 25 FPS in Vista. This isnt even close to what your results where... I took you for your word, which would mean you had a bad installation of the OS or the video card.
Well for most of the time it is below 25, but sometimes it stays between 25 and 50.

I didn't tweak anything though, I bet if I did, it would run better, and I would like it more.

I wish my TV tuner had Vista drivers. =( Not vistas fault though.

I will grow to like Vista.

Ive been using vista and wont go bacl to XP. If I want to make it look like xp I just turn off everything.

I cant believe that people are still bringing up the memory thing. Not even going to go into it.

Since the release of vista I havent scene any real compatibility issues. I have run 64bit from the start and everything has worked with the exception of my extremegamer and we all know that story. It works fine now though.

Yeah I guess there arent any real arguments as to why you should switch from XP for most poeple. However for me the fact that I can actually get out of a program that freezes and at the same time not shut down my OS and have to manually reboot is such a great thing.

As for the people that say they get 50% or less comparing vista to xp for gaming have something wrong or they are running on like 512mb ram with a P4 and a 5200. Get the decent hardware and 2 gigs of ram and you wont see much of a decrease if any noticable. In fact the only way I think you could more then likely tell the difference is by benching (3dmark) or by running somesort of fps montor while gaming.

Anyways...........

Good times huh, Im just glad they came out with something different. I cant wait for there next OS to come out in a few to 10 yrs.

I'm going to treat Vista like I did Win95 came out. I used Win 3.xx until they stopped supporting it, then I used Win98. SO I will use XPx64 until Vista has been stabilized a bit more. The only time I'm not in my *nux OS is when I want to play a game I can't run from it. I look at Win OS's as a gaming console...thats about it.

Yeah there's not difference between DX9 and DX10 except the fact that all newer games with have technology in them that DX9 can't handle. An example are sunrays and volumetric lighting (as proven by World In Conflict). Not only this, I believe we are seeing the beginning of DX10 and comparing it to the best that DX9 can offer. Crysis in DX9 is the best it will ever be. Crysis in DX10 in just the beginning of the potential unleashed.

I for one am looking forward to games like Bioshock 2 and Far Cry 2 and wondering what they will do with DX10.

QFT. I'll probably get it when a DX 10 only game comes out I cannot live without. Until then, not worth the extra cash IMO.

Honestly, I dual boot vista / xp, and I use XP 99% of the time, and my system can more than handle Vista; In fact, I find that XP just runs games so smoothly. I find video / sound drivers to be immature in Vista, and essentially there were no real concrete changes between XP to Vista besides dx9 and dx10, which I can barely notice a discernable difference. I dislike the fact that I lose framerates, and performance in everyday gaming applications. I don't find that Crysis looks amazing in dx10, and if Vista wasn't such a good deal for 130.00 CDN OEM, I wouldn't have purchased it. It has no real tangible benefits from XP and all it seems to do is add some choice eyecandy and networking issues.
