My E8400 is degrading!

Thread Starter
I just failed Prime95 on my last known stable configuration. So I think my chip is degrading. Is there a way I can stop it from degrading other than running stock? Or will it continue to degrade until it's dead?

Based on this post of his, I think his CPU is fine. But in the same thread, he claimed to be running 2.25v to his Tracers, so they might be the culprit. I would recommend running Memtest.

Thanks everyone who responded in this thread. Really helped me out. Now I'm just gonna start tightening my timings and maybe lowering the vcore some more.

The highest vcore I've put into the chip is 1.3625, which is what Intel recommends is the max.

Edit: The Prime95 test I just failed these were my settings:

CPU [4.20GHz]
CPU FSB [467x9]
RAM Multi [2.00]
Timings [5-5-5-15/2T]
DDR2 Voltage [2.2v]
CPU Voltage [1.35625v (BIOS)]
Temps [Idle:33° Load:60°]

Thats why I think it is the ram. They are known for going even at 2.2v. They are covered under a lifetime warranty, but you will most likely get the single sided D9HNL modules in return, should you have to RMA them.

ya the only reason i think my tracers lived at 2.3 at 1200mhz was the air coming through my big typhoon
