My E8400 is degrading! - Page 4

Running OCCT for about 15-20mins should give you a good graph. My PSU has a bad ripple. It stables out sometimes but other times, it bounces like crazy.

Okay, I will run OCCT after I'm done with Prime95. I have about 45 minutes to go until I am 12 hours stable with Prime95.

So are these E8400 really dying? Also The new CoolerMaster 850 Pro power supply has some of the most stable Rails i have ever seen.

Ok, I figured out how to view voltages. Right now, the vcore is steady at 1.33, the +3.3v is steady at 3.31, the DIMM is steady at 2.24, but the +12v is bouncing from 12.12 to 12.19. Is that a bad ripple? Here's a picture:

It shouldn't be dying, I haven't gone above the recommended 1.3625 vcore, the highest CPU-Z reported was 1.344. But I don't know what caused it to pass Prime95 one time and then fail 1 hour and 26 minutes at another time.

Run a 15-20 minute test in OCCT and check their graph. It has a fairly high sampling rate so it catches more than some other programs would.

Old 2hr OCCT screenshot with E8400 and DS3L. That line after droop is suppose to be at least close to flat. It's all over the place.

Here's my vCore for 15 minutes. The ripple is only 1.19%.

I really don't think the chip has degraded. I would just run your chip at 3.6 for everyday use (you can run it at close to stock voltages) and then 4.0 for benchies. Like the others said, you could have been on the verge of stability. I have had things work one second, and then the next time I try it freezez up.

Did you try running Prime95 one notch added to vCore?

It is not degradation but a burn-in time where you need to raise vCore regardless of how much voltage you have given it in the past.
