- I want to know if it's safe to drop the card's voltages to help ease the temperature on this badboy. I hear it's the most power consuming ATI card on the market, so I hope this is possible.

-Any suggestions on getting the temperature down? I'm mostly concerned if, for this card type, is it dangerous to be seeing this temps and should I invest in cooling? (Please consider that this card comes completely blocked off from the design beside the backside!)

-Also, I can get the core clock much higher before I encounter problems but I'm worried about the longevity of the card.
-Thanks for all the help in advance
That interesting. I have, well had a 2900Pro (Flashed to XT) and I was able to get the clocks up to 792 core/900 memory. These cards always run hot though.

You say you can't get the clocks much higher before encountering problems. What types of problems are you encountering? Please be as specific as possible.

A new cooling solution might be the answer. I just recently installed one of those Thermalright HR-03 R600s on my card with a 92mm fan and my temps went way down. I was able to bump my clocks up to 842/990 with no problems. You might look into that. They are not for sale on newegg anymore, I had to get mine on amazon.

I have an Ati 2900 pro also, mine runs fine at 800 core 1000 memory. And from what i can remember that is even lower then some people are pushing. Hell my fans don't even kick on until it hits 90c. Are you sure you have the 512bit version of this card and not the 256bit?

I know its off the subject, but how are you liking your E8400? I just bought one and anxiosly waiting for it to arrive. I can't wait to OC it. I have read reviews where its easy to get it over 4GHz!

I love it. My mobo is the limiting factor in my 3.6 oc. runs cool as a cucumber at 3.6 also. I would recommend to anyone.
Ok back on topic! The 2900's should clock to 800/1000 stock. I dont start getting distortion and crashes till past that.
