It won't bug me as long as they don't turn around and deny the RMA in the end.
Keep pressure on them. I had to RMA my x800GTO2, and the Fireblade version was re badged as the x800GTO2, I insisted getting a red pcb card back, which the Fireblade was a blue. I got what I wanted. Keep on them, and demand you get something back of equal or better value. Email them every two days. I ended being down a total of 2 weeks, from the time I sent my card to them.

Do they contact you to discuss the replacement? I'm just curious if I need to be hitting that up immediately, or if they will contact me once they have my card?

Get a tracking # on your package, then hit them up once they receive the card.

did you make sure the power was ok? i heard about the card needing an 8 pin connector to use overdrive, but that may be confused with some other card, so... anyways, GL with the RMA, i hope you get a 3870X2

Well that depends, if it's noticeable, you may need to procure one that fits... Just take apart other electronics and such until you find one.

When my sapphire died, i had to get "creative" with the screws. I had lost the screws that hold the fan to the casing, and the only replacements i could find were a bunch of "torx" head screws (the originals were phillips). But the thing bolted together fine, and they approved my RMA in the end, so you should be safe.

Update on this. The replacement is finally on the way. They sent off to Hong Kong to get the exact replacement, so I had to go quite a while without it. I actually have been using my 8800 GTS 640 from my son's machine in the mean time.

It's weird I like the GTS for performance, but the drivers for Nvidia seem way less stable in Vista 64. I've never really been a fanboy of either company, but I have never had BSOD with the ATI installed, but have had several with Nvidia. Kinda surprises me because for a long time the drivers were always noted as a big downside to ATI cards.
