No offense but whoever said that is an idiot. Nvidia still supports 6 and 7 series in their drivers. Why would they drop support for the 8 series? Anyway 9800GTX overclocks better but I would get the 8800GTS because its cheaper.

15 bucks is about how much more the 9800GTX is worth. If you have the space and the power connectors (and the 15 bucks), I'd say get the 9800. At that price diff, though, it's about exactly a toss-up. Any more than that, I'd get the 8800GTS512.
