Disapointed in my current sound..suggestions?

Thread Starter
Well to be honest my current setup (audigy se)+ z5400's, well to be honest it sounds horrible. And i'm fed up about how bad creative products work with vista.
I was thinking maybe the x 5500's? But whats a good soundcard. I listen to alot of music and LOVE 5.1 in games, and with my audigy half the time i don't even get 5.1...

First, I actually got my X-fi to work with vista 64bit (so you shouldnt have any problems)
But if you want a good card, with out creatives crummy support, go Auzentech.

The Auzen Prelude is quite a bit better than Creative's x-fi (both in driver and sound quality), but it costs quite a bit more as well.

Honestly you'll be better off getting an amp and a 2 channel speaker setup (bookshelf monitors) or a HT surround sound setup. Most decent HTIB setups will sound better than even the best computer speakers. They do take up more room though.

Do you think it would be better to just get some amazing 2.1 speakers vs 5.1?

If you don't want to shell out for an Auzentech or Xonar, the bluegears B-Enspirer or HT Omega Claro are very good cards. But if there is no budget, get an Auzentech X-Fi.

Well don't leave us at just that!

Is it fully functional?

Did you get DTS and everthing else working?
