not experienced - trying to OC 7800 GT

I'm trying to OC one of my 7800 GTs with the Nvidia settings...if I put it on what it calculates to be optimal settings I get lots of artifacting. The temperature seems to be fine when it starts artifacting, around 60-61 C. The most I managed to do it without artifacting is 417 MHz core and 1.06 GHz memory. Can anyone explain to me why it might be artifacting so bad at higher frequencies?

It just hit it's maximum clock is all.... temperature isn't the only factor to overclocking - eventually, the hardware just can't be pushed anymore

oh my. only 417/1060?

it may be the card itself is a just bad clocker. as my own wouldn't start temperature-related artifacting until they hit ~80C.

just to be sure, you aren't raising the PCIe frequency by chance are you?

Woah, I just read the specifications on the 7800 gtx.... stock is 430MHz on the core

Perhaps try your luck with rivatuner for overclocking and ATItools for artifact scanning?

I'm not OCing the one in my specs, I'm OCing a 7800 GT, the base is closer too 400 MHz core and 1.00 GHz memory clock if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure it's just a naturally bad one :/ I can't see any other reason why it would be so prone to artifacting, but then again, I'm no expert.
