Q6600 on P5N-E SLI Questions

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I am currently running a Q6600 on a P5N-E SLI board at 3.0 ghz. I have run Prime 95 for 6 hours so far and my system is stable. I have some questions, however.

1.) Is my Vdroop excessive? - I have my Vcore set to 1.35 in bios. Several utilities (including speedfan, PC Probe II, and CPU-Z) are reporting 1.31 - 1.29at Idle and 1.28-1.24 running Prime95.

2.) The hottest my CPU has gotten is 42° C - assuming my setup is still stable and temps don't get much higher after 24 hours of Prime95 would you reccomend that I push the limits any higher? I am currently Air cooled with a fan on my HDD at the front of the case blowing to rear, a Zalmann CNPS9700 on my CPU and an exhaust fan in the rear, nothing on nb or sb except for whatever came w/ the mobo.

3.) Speedfan is reporting that my CPU is only at 25% load when running Prime95. - Is this normal?

Thank you for any help you can provide!

That board doesn't like quads. I doubt you can go much further but trying is always an option.

I have read many other forums where users claimed to go as high as 3.6 stable at temps below 50° C at load. Has your experience been different?

This thread is all about your processor and board combo.

That 3.6GHz you've been seeing was achieved on other motherboards.

Yeah, I just posted on that thread...I have seen screenshots of CPU-Z w/ this mobo and Q6600 at 3.6 man. I'll post a link here if I can remember what forum that came from.

I'm not saying I'll be one of the people doing it, but I've seen proof that it's possible.

I gave up on my P5N-E SLI because I couldn't clock my Q6600 over 2.8.

Its the nforce 650i chipset which is holding you back... i recommend getting the P5E X38 mobo.. or if you want ddr3 get the P5E3

check out my system, ive had it stable at 3825mhz @ 1.56v... easy as shit to OC
