refub card in normal retail box??

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a BFG GeForce 9800 GTX OC from Best Buy. It came
shrink wrapped. Upon opening the box I discovered the tech support
number in the manual underlined in pink pen. Upon further careful
inspection, I also noticed that the electrostatic bag has been crinkled,
and opened previously and had another sticker put over it. Upon even
further inspection, I have noticed that the card itself has
fingerprints, and looks like it might be a refurbished model, due to
scratches and looks like the residue of flux on the back pcb itself.
Also the sticker indicating the bios version has the actual number sharpied out.

How is this possible?? Shouldn't this have been labeled refurbished?? I emailed BFG's tech support to see what they have to say. Has this happened to anyone else??

I would take it back to BB and demand a Brand New card. Like tomorrow. Something's not right with that retail 9800GTX!

Put it back into the box, just the way you found it.

STEP AWAY FROM THE BOX!! STEP AWAY FROM THE 9800GTX!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL!!!!

As hard as it may be, not to install the card, you must refrain from doing so, otherwise you are setting yourself up for failure to get a new card!

When I was at BB last time, I heard the tech guys talking about people re-shrink wraping boxes and putting either damaged cards inside, or sometimes just some wood!

I would complain and want to talk to a manager, maybe you'll get a little extra out of it.
