By ES, does that mean it has an unlocked multi? Some of the ES chips actually have unlocked multis.

well thats what i presumed...im pretty sure most quad core es have an unlocked multiplier. So i was guessing that it would do better since its a 45nm with an unlocked multiplier and the qx6700 is a 65nm with an unlocked multiplier. Lmk ur opinion. Thanks

Chances are you don't. Cpuz will say if it's an ES or not, and the for sure way of telling if you have an ES cpu is if you can move the multiplier up past 8 in your bios in your case.

Cpuz doesn't say that my cpu is an ES, but it is.

Most ES cpu's I have seen lately don't have an unlocked multiplier either.

you can tell by the revision that cpuz says ES always have different revisions than that of normal chips

back to the op's question:

I'd get it, it might not overclock as well as the q6700 but you should still be able to hit 3.4-3.6. the reason I say get it is because of the 12mb L2 cache
