Build For My Uncle: How's This?

Hello again, I am helping my uncle build a new computer, and we want to check to make sure that all the parts will work. I made another thread but I wanted to make a new one, just so I can have more people hopefully looking at it and commenting.

Ok, here's the dilemma. He really wants quad core, and 4 GB of RAM. Thats fine with me, but won't that video card bottleneck the Q6600? He really wants it to be future proof, but doesn't want to break the bank. What should we do?
Should we look at a dual-core?
Or should we keep the quad-core and get something like an 8800gt?
Feedback will be greatly appreciated and +rep if you help.

Thanks!

The gpu will only bottleneck the Quad if he benchmarks or games. If its just for multitasking, then he shouldn't have an issue.

What are you doing for the power supply? I'd look at a 450w-500w one from corsair.

Also, do you plan on using the stock cooler for the q6600?

GREAT, but one problem, get this video card, only $10 more and MUCH better, 128bit and gddr3 vs 64bit and gddr2. its only $10 more...($60) Palit 2600 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261003

EDIT: why does he need vista ultimate? save like $60 and get home prem. x64

EDIT: get a bigger HDD. take that money you saved from not getting ultimate and get a Seagate 750GB 7200.11 32mb cache for $130, hdds fill up fast, that will last a long time.

tehpwner - its mainly for multitasking, and photoshop.
- i totally forgot to add that, haha.. ok ill show him a corsair one.
- yes, stock cooler is fine. i got to 3.2 with my stock cooler, could go more.

sgdude - i'll have him look into that card. thanks
- what is the differences between ultimate and home premium?
- i think he has hard drives already, that is just for an extra.

Then the gpu should be fine. Oh, and sgdude's suggestion for the 128-bit version was a really good one.

For $160 you can get two 500gig barracudas and put them in raid0!

What's the budget, psu and motherboard? It seems a machine needs more processor power. I don't know you budget so throw some basic components here.

1. Gigabyte P35-DS3L or DFI LP Dark P35
2. Antec EA-430W ($35, egg) and Corsair 540vx ($59, buy.com)
3. At least 128 bit GPU like $49 8600GT.
