[dvHW] Apple has the best tech support - Page 3

I realize my info is seriously dated, but last I heard (a few years ago), Apple support was notorious for doing such things as putting a large glop of thermal grease between the CPU and heatsink.

I think PC service probably gets the harder questions, since PC users tend to be more self-supporting for most problems, or the majority of problems are with Windows instead of the hardware.

Pretty much every time I call tech support it is to my ISP to find out why my internet is not working. Of course, I always get the recorded message to try their online support...

Sure if you call customer service telling people to buy new Mac Pros. Thats what they did when people who had Mac pros bought the 8800GT upgrade kit. They made it so it only worked for the brand new Mac Pros and anyone who complained was told to buy a new Mac Pro.

Say what?.

Old habits die hard.

It's just like the whole malware precentage thing for Vista vs. XP vs. 2k3. Seeing as how Mac has a tiny market share, AND full control over the hardware, the things that can go wrong are much narrower, thusly much better diagnosed. When you also factor in the stupidly high pricetag of a Mac, you filter OUT a large portion of the stupid in the world (after all, an idiot buying a PC for 300 dollars is going to need help, spending 3 grand on a Mac usually means you have abit more money, and generally, brains). I'm rambling abit, but seriously, think about it. When you relaise that HP probably gets a million calls a DAY, and Mac gets maybe 100k, how good does their support have to be to be rated the way it is?

Apple have full control of thier hardware, so its no wonder. your at thier mercy should things go wrong; they're providing a service the consumer should be entitled to..
Typical of proprietary systems, they don't follow standards - they just make it all up as they go along, they only have thier own interests at heart.

I don't like being left in the dark just so they can pocket a bit more money, this is why i find them so unappealing. bloody snakes.
Exactly.

their hardware running their OS. It would be blasphemy if they couldn't provide support.
