Overclocking Q6600

Hello all, i am going to be posting a ton of information so we can get this right.

Recently, i have been having an issue where i get BSOD or when windows loads it freezes and crashes. these issues do not occur when i have my CPU at stock Frequencies.

i have heard that the Q6600 on my MB can go to 3.6. i have been having trouble keeping it stable at 3.2 and wondered if you guys could help me

i am going to list everything on my BIOs page for your information. BTW, i am watercooling the CPU and have a fan blowing cool air directly into the case to keep ambients down, heat is NOT an issue imo. 34 idle 42 load

and that is all the information i think you need. my CPU is also a G0 revision

if you have any suggestions i would very much appreciate it. at these settings i have been able to get in with my cpu at 3.2 without issue. but i did crash once out of the 20 times i logged in to windows. what voltages would you recommend for a stable 3.6?

My opinion would be to disable all the spread spectrums and the execute disable bit. Put your voltages in manual (core, mcp, sp nforce) and bump up your volts on the northbridge (1.5v should be plenty and lower it until not stable).
Tests of Prime 95 is good, orthos excellent, TAT has a real 100% load temp test (orthos is 85%load).

i would suggest taking your vcore off of auto and set it some where between 1.4v to 1.5v. but i believe you definately need to bump up your vcore to hit 3.6.

Im not running nForce (P35) but this may be useful info for you. In BIOS when I ran 3.4 i had the vcore set to 1.4125 and in everest it reported as 1.39 at idle and 1.38 at load.

At 3.6 I am up to 1.4250 and it is 1.4 at idle and 1.39 at load. 24 hour OCCT stable (I like OCCT because its all in one and it does the time graphs!)

Start with FSB 375 (FSB QDR 1500), multi 9 and memory linked and sync 800 1 : 1 timing 5-5-5-15 2T and the following volt to manual. (don´t mind memspeed and timing right know, OC your CPU first and memory later, with this setting they don´t hamper your CPU OC).and the following volt to manual.

CPU volt 1,50
CPU FSB 1,40
Memory 2,10
Nforce SPP 1,55 (hope you have your fan on)
Nforce MCP 1,55
HT nforce 1,35
Nforce MCP aux 1,5

All PCIE to 100MHz

All Spectrum disable

Check volt with CPU-Z compare with what you have set in BIOS and under load.

Check temp, should not go over 60 under load to be on the safe side, I´not sure about max volt, I think around 1,50 under load (CPU-Z readout).

If your temp and your stable increase FSB with 5MHz (FSB QDR 20), check again, if you´re okey, raise 5 again and keep going until you reach max volt or max temp.

And as "pig69" wrote "tests of Prime 95 is good, orthos excellent, TAT has a real 100%", yes it´s a real bad *** torture machine.

Keep us posted about your progress
