temp sensor question (q9300)

This is not my sig rig, it's a q9300 (1.3125vcore, Tuniq Tower and AS5) in an abit ip35 pro with 8 GB of corsair xms2 goodness.

Idle temps:
CoreTemp 0.98.1: 56
Speedfan 4.34: 51
RealTemp 2.5: 46

Load temps:
CoreTemp 0.98.1: 70
Speedfan 4.34: 65
RealTemp 2.5: 60

CoreTemp and RealTemp match exactly, apart from being 10C off. CT reports a TJ of 105C, while RT report 95C. So who's right? And why the **** is speedfan making up numbers right in the middle?

I'm inclined to believe realtemp, because the coretemps just seem too high. But can anyone confirm this for me?

I couldn't say which is right, but I'd say stay with Core Temp ONLY because I don't think you want to make that mistake. Just in case stay with the higher temp until Intel gets their stuff figured out.

Intel hasn't disclosed the TJ on *any* recent desktop processors... I don't think waiting for an answer from them is a good solution....

Since I posted this I read the stuff posted by the author of RealTemp, and I have to admit he's fairly convincing. It's pretty clear that CoreTemp is not necessarily accurate... and indeed, given the relatively thermal spec intel gives the q9300 a T-junction of 105C seems a little high to me.

At any rate, my temps under CoreTemp are about 1-2C tops over the 71.4C rating given by intel when at their very highest under a seriously long Prime95 test. Given the (I think) high likelihood that CoreTemp is wrong, and it's only a few C over what I'd live with anyway (since my usage never really takes it that close to what Prime does), I'll live with it as is. I just can't believe that a 45nm chip, even a quad core, is hitting 70C with a Tuniq Tower on it at 1.2725 volts.
