Overclocking my 8800Gtxs

Thread Starter
Hey all

ive got these 8800 GTXs in SLI and i wana overclock them

they are water cooled and running colder than they ever have. 42 idle

i was wondering. i have overclocked them to 625 core, 1400 shader, and 950 memory. is this a heavy oc? light oc? average?

what kind of OC should i be able to get them to? anyone have any numbers they could give me?

overclocking programs that you could recommend?

what kind of load temps to expect?

thanks alot peeps! i look forward to reading your responses

I have 650/1462/1100 (shaders locked to core). This is with the thermalright hr-03 plus as you can see in the sig.

Just grab furmark, run the stability test version in windowed mode, crank the juice with Rivatuner and look for artifacts, glitching, overheating, that kind of stuff. Using furmark my overclock has proven to be rock solid.

Regarding temperatures, I don't know what your WC setup is and I don't know anything about water, but this is what the graph looks like after running 3dmark:

Not too high. It gets over 60 when running furmark, though. I never did look at load temps with the stock cooling but what I've read is that the card can supposedly work at 90 degrees under load and that this is perfectly normal. I wouldn't want the temperatures to get there, though..

It´s probably average, I have 625/1566/1000 (shaders unlinked) and bowman´s are 650/1462/1100 so you should be able to get high, I have test with 630 but no it didn´t like it.(you can always start a thread like this "Is 625/1400/950 on a 8800GTX any good?")

Remember that shaders goes up in 54 increments and I think default are 1350 on GTX, so it should be like this 1350, 1404, 1458 and so on, if you put in 1457 it goes to 1404 and 1460 it goes to 1458, you gain little if you unlink your shaders.

Here can you read about OC shaders.

I OC with Rivatuner 2.09 (you can OC shaders unlinked with it) and test for artifacts with ATI Tools (I just tested FurMark and looks nice) and if it´s okey, I run some test ingames with GRAW2, RSV and Crysis and if it passes those test I think it´s stable in my point of view.

That´s another way to go.

When I ran 8800GTX SLI on my Striker Extreme with E6600@3.6 (1.54 under load with 1.65 in BIOS) with water on CPU, NB (680i SPP is like a furnace) and GPU and run Crysis benchamrk for two hours I had the following temps:

CPU ldle 30 Load 50 (it was stress by 70% avg)
NB Idle 48 Load 52
GPU1 Idle 40 Load 50
GPU 2 Idle 40 Load 50

Same setup but with E8400@3,6

CPU Temp (temp reading on those E8400 is no good so I really don´t no.)
NB Idle 42 Load 46
GPU1 Idle 38 Load 48
GPU 2 Idle 38 Load 48

There you are "trevorama", hope it´s useful for you.

Rivatuner seems to be the best program for overclocking sli'ed cards.
