DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS which CPU cooler?

Thread Starter
I was ready to order my board but luckily noticed a thread about the vendetta 2 and the DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS. Seems that the vendetta 2 will not fit unless you change the north bridge heat sink... which voids the warranty.

So now I'm once again trying to find a board. I will most likely be using a single 8800 gts.

The next board I'm looking at is DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2R. If I was to get this board I guess I would use an ATI video card(single for now) and if I needed could upgrade to dual video cards.

So should I get that board or some other board that I've not looked at yet?

nvidia has some powerhouse cards coming out now, I would most likely go the nvidia route, but ATI is doing pretty well too. Its a tight race...

any know if the vendetta 2 will fit in the DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2R without having to modify the north-bridge...

I wish the P35-T2RS would work without modifing it, but I don't want to lose my warranty

If it wont fit on the P35 DK, it wont fit on the X38 DK. THe northbridge on the x38 is even bigger.

That P35 is a good mobo though, I'm sure you could figure out some way to fit the vendetta 2 properly. maybe just face it a different direction? HOw badly does it not fit?

I don't have the board yet, I was getting ready to order and just doing a final check and stumbled across this thread.
http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...-p35-t2rs.html

Which is asking if the vendetta 2 will work for the board, and another user replies that it won't because the vendetta 2 is the same dimensions as the cooler he used and he had to modify it.

http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...matek-hdt.html

Think on second page is the info on it not fitting.

So it seems my options are.
A) void the warranty if I want this board
B) pick another board

I had spent a lot of time trying to pick the right board and after reading the forums for a while decided to go with dfi. Now I'm unsure of what board to get.

just get it change the NB cooler and if anything goes wrong with it put the stock one back on.

Nocando, it's got one of those stickers that leaves the "Void" written on after you remove the sticker.

It's a shame though, because these boards are great!

You can get a Gigabyte Mobo, not the options of a DFI, but O/C like mad.

I really like the dfi board. And I've not heard of anyone actually trying the vendetta 2 on it, closest being the xigmatech which has the same dimensions. Since I already have the vendetta 2 maybe I should just get this board and try it. If it doesn't work I guess I could return the vendetta 2 for another cooler.

Any suggestions on good coolers that work for this board?
