..... because you didnt look inside of it for 5 YEARS. thats how it can accumulate so much dust. Mine could gather that in a year..

Lol so I didn't put it inside because 1. there's not a good way to put it inside of the cage without the air coming in from another port and 2. I tried to eliminate as much of the restrictive flow as possible by using a higher surface area filter (thus the folds). I know the air flows much less, about 1/2 or so, but my cpu temp and gpu temp is only up 1 degree.
