It's funny how recently I had praised the push pins that come with most LGA 775 coolers. I have since changed my mind. I just broke one of the pins because I had tried pushing it in while half the pin was in the hole on my board. The half of the pin that didn't make it in the hole bent and broke off of course. So for now I'm going to stick that pin on one of the bottom push pins on my cooler so gravity can do its thing.
I just ordered the Thermalright Bolt-thru kit, so hopefully that'll fix my problem.
(I also ordered a Noctua NF-P12 fan and Thermalright HR-05. They should quiet down the noise is my rig pretty nicely!)
Yeah, remember the retention system on P4's? They were a huge pain but at least they were secure - the new push pins are definitely step backwards.
