blurry with crt monitor?

Thread Starter
i bought an KDS XF-9bi 19" crt from a friend of mine and i hooked it up to my computer and the text is very blurry.I Adjusted the screen size to 1152 by 864 (just big enough where i can play Conquer Online in window mode and still use my desktop) and the blurriness got better then i lowered the refresh rate from 85 to 60 and this made it better but its still pretty bad in the sides and corners of the screen any ideas?

Raise the resolution of whatever you're doing to the max that the monitor will support.
Blackbox.

some monitors are very picky with their refresh rates.

try using refresh rates in the middle, like 70 or 75.

also, see if you get the same blurryness at lower resolutions.

strife just confused it with an LCD. LCDs need their resolutions turned up, CRTs are usually the opposite.

Did you hit 'degauss'?? look through the menu for that option, and hit it. The screen will go bonkers for a bit, but it might solve it. Also, do you have any high-power magnetic sources nearby the screen (such as speakers.... not including small PC speakers).

well i lowered to 1024x768 and that rids all of it but i cant run my game in its window mode and I raised the refresh rate to 70 and 75 and they sort of make it more worse.
