The Porting of Mass Effect

Is the greatest thing to happen to us since the creation of Dual Core processors.

Mass Effect is a gorgeous and intuitive game, with some amazing gameplay, but most importantly.. Mass Effect has one of the single GREATEST storylines of all time. It sits up there with the Half Life series in terms of storyline driven gameplay. This game features absolutely awesome conversations, with EXCELLENT voice acting, and a beautifully incorporated visual display that immerses you into this beautiful world.

If you are a story-loving gamer, then this game is the BEST.

I personally love the space/ SciFi realm of storytelling, as a fan of the Half-Life series, The Ender's Game/Shadow series and its sequels, and just anything to do with the stars and everything out there. And this game only made me love it more.

I find it hard to explain how epic this game is, because I'm the kind of person that soaked in all the information I could about this game (thats including getting a 100% complete Codex, finishing every mission, and visiting every single world of the hundreds of worlds in this game, reading about them. I am completely immersed in this universe, aching for Mass Effect 2. But mainly I'm crying inside because the world is still our lame world, and not the world of the 2150's where humanity has met with other races and started occupying space.

I love this game so incredibly much, I haven't felt this impassioned about a story since the Half Life series. I hate that I beat it already hah.

But seriously, you need to get this game on PC. I can only imagine that it will become even greater on PC.

As I said, if you are a story-loving person, then you need to invest in this game, because its not really a game, its like playing the best movie you have ever seen.

But do your best NOT to suggest this game become a movie, because I am going to go ahead and make this movie when I get to Hollywood, so I can do it justice, unlike 95% of the movies made after games.

But get it guys. Awesome combat, great talent tree character development, beautiful world, compelling and immersive story, romance subplots, of which I had to partake and just an overall awesome game that I scored 22 hours of total gameplay on.

BUY IT.

A few flaws, but very few. The story is so badass, the score is amazing too, and just everything about this game makes me wish I was born about 150 years from now.

It looks like it will great - I don't want to hype myself too much, though. It's better to be pleasantly surprised.

In any case, a lot has to go wrong for me not to buy this, and that's something I decided even before seeing this post.

lol...if anything archangel, I will check it out not based on the grocery list of reviews you provided, but because of your sheer enthusiasm for it. For someone who hasn't been paying attention to Mass Effect nearly as much as others, this is a big nod to what sounds like a cool game. Well deserved rep+

Thanks NiceGuy.

Seriously.. When I run into such an immensely well written, well executed story, I can do nothing but support it and applaud it. It is rare in today's industry to find a game that had so much effort put into it. Every small detail of this game has been looked at and given a deeper meaning than just saying something exists. Normally they just look for a quick money maker, and put very little effort into a real story.

The world today, Hollywood, Games and all.. very little effort is put in to captivate the people like me, who can be so swept up into a story. Too many Call of Duty 4 type games, with a cool story, but focus on the gameplay and the graphics.

In Mass Effect, the gameplay and visuals are so incredible, but the story still captivated me more. Absolutely loved it, just as much as Half Life 2..

If God could give me one wish.. He would definitely have the corporate Executives of BioWare call me and ask me to direct the film.

RPG and FPS.

It merges elements of both. The combat gameplay is awesome, with all the Gears of War type play, but also RPG elements that allow you to micromanage your weapons and armor through upgrades, ammo types, etc. And there is also the talent system that allows specialization etc.

Also, the best part of this game for me, was that in EVERY conversation, you have the control of directing it in a certain direction, and there is a different outcome with each choice. It must have been an incredible Voice Acting adventure to get all the dialogue recorded, because you sometime have 5 directions to take a conversation.

You control Romance subplots, and at a few points in the game, you control whether or not certain squad members die, whether or not to extinct a whole race, and the future of the game.

I kind of worry about Mass Effect 2, because everybody's experience in the game is different. Some people had Shepard as a biotic, some as a soldier. You choose different backgrounds, different romances, and you also choose who lives and who dies in your squad.. that will be hard for BioWare to play with..
