The Porting of Mass Effect - Page 3

I'm replaying it through again.. but I just can't make myself be an adept.. Or make myself be a renegade bastard.

The second time through, I'm playing the regular Shepard, which is REALLY weird after looking at my Shepard (who wasn't all that different) for 22ish hours. The same voice from different faces kind of annoys me a bit, but I have a feeling I'll get used to him.

I imagine my 3rd time through, I won't mind being a Renegade Adept who decides to kill everything.

I too have read that the port to PC makes the game even better. They introduce a new tactical HUD allowing individual control of teammates (which I'm not all that interested in.. I didn't use Squad Control on the Xbox.. I just enjoyed running in and kicking ass), increase some of the graphics, and the conversations and texture loading will be even more smooth.

If they make this game any more movielike, they won't need a movie.

Finally some people that appreciate the story that a game offers. A well-driven story is what can take a great game and turn it into an unforgettable game. While I most certainly will now check out Mass Effect, here is my list of the best story-driven games I have played:

Half-Life series
Final Fantasy VII, X
Metal Gear Solid
Gears of War
Warcraft III & WoW (the lore that follows these games is a mile thick)
Call of Duty 4 (short but oh so sweet with an ending that is just wow)

Too many games these days are all about visuals and technical aspects. It's unfortunate that so many the excel in those areas have stories that mean nothing and play little part in appreciating the game.

Its a market driven by different customers. The majority of gamers are CS type thrill players, or Madden playing console people. The need for story isn't always top priority for people.

I know my brother and my two gaming buddies, are all CS and CoD4 players. I show them a game like Mass Effect and they say "Everytime I look at you playing that game it's like a movie" And i say: "YES! Its like playing the best movie ever!"

I'm with you on that entire list. Like I said, I've been known to go on lore escapades back when I played WoW, to go places just to see them and talk to people and read lore etc.

The Half Life series.. the whole story of what is going on is incredible.

FFX was badass.. the ending was awesome.. CoD 4 was amazing.

Gears of War is awesome too.

Its not just the story of games.. its the world that good games exist in that make them. Like Zelda. Its a whole world, not just a linear story that you can only learn a bit about.

P.S: I LOVE METAL GEAR SOLID.

One more week.

And then you can all experience the awesome, spacey, funny, badass, (sexy), goodness that ME offers.

And I get to play it through again.. Provided I have time.

Archangel - your sheer confidence and "wow wow wow" about this game has resulted in my putting it on my "get the game on release day" list

I love story-driven games. They are too few imho

=-O

I had no idea this was coming out for PC.

This may have made my summer. Getting a degree is simply overrated.

Addons?

As in the Downloadable Content?

If thats what you meant, then yes. All the content will be available on both, though PC did get a bit of a gameplay facelift with better squad control and the graphics got minor improvements (not that they really needed it).

And I've read that they are going to do it kind of like Blizzard did WoW. They are going to continually release downloadable content until ME2, keeping us occupied and interest.

And I'm glad my "Wow wow wow" has inspired the masses to get this game.

It's an epic game. And it went Gold on PC last week. So many pre-orders.
