Team The Replacements (No Members Needed) Reunion Tour - Page 283

K so next month I think I am going to try CPU folding. With my 6K tax return (I got a kid, single parent so I get paid) I am getting the following...

E8400
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS4P

So my question is, thie E8400, from what I figure it has a 9 multi, with that board can i hit 450FSB with a 9 multi on water and be o.k. Is this at all possible? I am getting married in June, so I am only going to have about 350 bucks to spend. I want that board because it still has 3 PCIE slots, I know it won't run SLI, but if I have to I can still fold on 3 cards.

So what do you all think? Is there something better out there that I could get or do?

Yes the E8400 have a 9 multiplier, I don't know that board but I have a Gigabyte EP35 board and it can run up to 515fsb if I feed it some voltage. I have mine running around 470fsb stable, I am using a zalman 9700.

Just make sure you get a good chip.

I don't know much about the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS4P but a nice E8XXX would be

Once you get your rig setup talk with Roke about running Linux Mint

Might I suggest the EP45-UD3R? Not sure on the difference of that one and the DS4P, but I have the UD3R and they clock like crazy. I'm sitting pretty at 450x8 on my e6750. Check out the UD3R OC'ing thread, guys are posting crazy 4+ghz OCs on the e8x00 cpu's

Linkage to board thread., check the last pages, it's a long thread, so just skip to the recent parts

The only differences between these boards is the amount of PCI-E slots and the cooling options on the NB/SB/Mosfets
