CoD4 is disappointing - Page 2

The multiplayer make COD4 worth it alone. I,m sure I will get a few years worth playing out of it.

Few corrections. The M16 does sound real, as does the m4. The M16A2 (which is in the game) Has 3 selections of mode on the actual weapon, Safe, Semi, Burst. The M16's no longer fire fully automatic. The M4 is the same with the exception of the still popular M4A1. (No not the CS:S version, that weapon model is so fubar'ed that I have no idea what they were thinking.) Now before you say "He's wrong" I've live fired, stripped, disassembled and re-assembled all of these weapons in a military environment where these weapons are at their best standards. Firing a decommissioned M16/M4 or the AR15 is not the same as firing the real thing down range and feeling what the kick on these weapons are. I'm glad that the M16 is deadly accurate and the kick is little to none because thats how the weapon feels to me when I fired it. The kick is so small that I could easily put 2 3 shot bursts down range before having to readjust the weapon.

Now at the same time, I make no claim to being a weapons expert but I do have enough experience with these particular weapons to make these kinds of claims.

The game was awesome. Played at a LAN party the first week it was out. 24players. Intense. Sounds were fantastic. Graphics were phenomenal, and the single player was almost perfect except at the fact it was way too short.
Well I can counter #2. The M16 was fully automatic in the older models. Auto was replaced by burst in 1981. Also the M4A1 is Full Auto.

Yes, I know the original M16 (as in Vietnam Era) was fully auto. It also had a 20 round magazine instead of a 30 round. But since the m16a2 (I think) it has been burst, yet in game the m16a4 has fully auto.

I'm not trying to say the game is bad, it isn't, I was just ranting on the things that bothered me.

I haven't played much of the single player, only to the part right after the TV station so like very little. The graphics are pretty cool but definitely not award winning or awe inspiring. Some of the effects are done really nicely, smoke, explosions, the blood sprays, but the textures look kinda console looking to me, almost how halo3 looked to me when I first saw it on a TV. What I can't figure out is why it uses so much CPU power to run it. All of the stock maps are all dreary single shade of tan sandy color, really bland. I like wetworks just as it has some blues and reds in there instead of the same old dusty scenes of the stock maps. There are a few really good custom maps I love that look outstanding and way better than the stock maps, one in particular is Burg, looks so good. At first I hated this map as it promotes sniping but once you learn how to sneak into the burg (or castle) using tunnels it gets really fun. Another really great looking map is scrap, a huge scrap yard but the depth of field and colors of it look really nice.

The M16A4 fires a three-round burst in game. At least in multiplayer, not sure on single player.

After lvl 55 the multiplayer seems bland...

Lvl 55 took me about 3 weeks. I have a job and family though.

I will admit that my opinion is biased. I enjoy RTS / MMO titles much more than FPS'. I say RTS' which is consists of 99.9% WC3 and .01% WiC. WC3 is an amazing classic game from a legendary company (Blizzard). Every game is different in some way.

The only game that had some potential to keep my attention would have been Crysis, but the relentless hacking pushed me away.

Long story short...CoD4 will offer entertainment that is well worth $50. Since Infinity Ward does not put DRM on their games, you can get a great deal on eBay or here on OCN. For $35ish, enjoy the game for what it is (a 2007 classic) and move on if you don't like it for your long term entertainment needs.
