Not very surprising. RAW power is always better than the extra memory when it comes to gaming.

Yeah the G92 core is good but it does need the extra bandwidth that the 8800GT has. Considering the 256-bit G94 isn't far behind the 256-bit G92, this isn't surprising.

Also, at this point in time, unless you are gaming at resolutions higher than 1920x1200, 512MB of video memory is enough.
