I second this the board overclocks insanely well and has all solid state capacitors.

I second this processor change. E6600 is nice but the E8400 is much better in terms of everything, even cost.
E6600 = 65nm,1066FSB, 4mb cache SHARED vs the E8400 = 45nm,1333fsb,6mb cache. On newegg itself the E6600 is already 30 dollars more than the E8400

Im agree about the e8400, but i can get one on ebay used for about 50 bucks or so... and the e6600 will offer an amazing jump in performance and stability,

Price is a major issue here and we have most of the periferals... only problem is that the 650i only has one ide header, i think i might need a board that has 2. Does the P35?

Well i guess i do need to find a board that has 2 ide headers, and im going to need a good psu, he only has a 350w 18a, 12v rail

so far im at

CPU- E6600
Ram- Crucial Balistix
MOBO-?
Graphics-eVGA 8800GTS

I did a little checking and I can't find a newer mobo that'll work with the E6600 AND has 2 IDE slots in the mobo. I'd buy the DS3L like everybody says, and then get a SATA DVD drive. They are getting fairly cheap these days. Plus he can burn dual layer DVD's with the new DVD drive.

Cheap SATA CD/DVD combos and burners at newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE

Anybody else have any ideas for a dual ide header mobo, that supports C2D?

I don't think you'll find one :-\\. You can get a ata to sata converter but I would advise using it on the hard drive. It would be ok for the optical drive. They are fairly cheap, around $10-$25.

Definately go with the P35- DS3L its a good solid motherboard that over clocks really well.

And these days I haven't seen a mobo with a dual IDE header...
