E8400 Vs Q6700 - Page 3

All depends on the game. Certain games won't use all 4 cores and I suspect the E8400 would get better performance. But if it's a game that takes advantage of your 4 cores then there will be a rather large increase in performance. Basically the Q6700 is like 50$ more then the E8400 and even with them both at stock (If you don't O/C like me) the Q6700 will get better performance. For general Vista use Q6700 is the way to go... Until Intel releases a new chip and you all are like to get the new one... I'm happy with my AMD Athlon XP 2800+ or my C2D MacBook.

I know my PC's suck

I would think because my B3 would only clock up to around 3.25 stable. When my e8400 was around 3.5 I didn't see much of a difference either, but after I put it over 3.8 there was a huge jump in FPS for me. It could have just been a dying old B3, but I'm just reporting what I experienced myself. I can't explain it lol... My 3 GTXs are more than enough to kick the graphics out, but my cpu was lacking in pure speed I guess.

Edit: I will admit I was using different drivers as well... which I just noticed, but either way. lol
