240w TDP........ 2900xt anyone?

EDIT: actually, that's 20-25w higher than the 2900xt. Ouch.

That's like saying that multicore chips aren't next-gen because they are really just two processors on a single die.

They aren't... Intel never tried to say quad core Conroes were next-gen. They were released within the same generation as the dual cores. This would be the second "next-gen" based off the same chip without any significant changes. That is called lame.

His point is that it's a 9800gx2 on a single pcb.

Not technically. It's a 9800GX2 on a single die. The GX2 could have been designed like the HD3870X2 and have two chips on one PCB but still not perform as well as this 9900GTX hopefully will.

So regardless of the fact that there were significant leaps in processing power with the Core 2 Duos and Quads, they're lame? Just because they aren't a crazy small tech or entirely revolutionary doesn't mean they're not next-gen.

That, and this won't see any of the downsides to SLI.

That's pretty much the point I was trying to get across, lol.
