Q6600 is starting to have problems

Thread Starter
Hey guys, around one month ago I overclocked my Q6600 on my sig rig to 3.6ghz. During the past week or so, I have been starting to get alot of blue screens when running cpu intensive programs. I found it my cpu is running alot hotter than it was a month ago. My idle temps on my first 3 cores are around 44-48 while the fourth core is 35-40. As soon as I run OCCT or Prime95, the temps shoot up to the mid 70's followed by a BSOD. A month ago I could run prime95 all day without any errors and with the temps in the low 60's. I do not know why they are rising like this. Here are my settings:
Advanced BIOS Features
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) Disable
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) Disable
CPU EIST Function (Note) Disable

MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
CPU Host Clock Control Enabled
x CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) 400
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) 100
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) AUTO

System Voltage Control
DDR2 OverVoltage Control: +.03v
PCI-E OverVoltage Control [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control +0.2v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control +0.2v
CPU Voltage Control 1.41875v
Also, my ddr 800 ram is running at 1200mhz at 5 5 16 28 timings. How can I change it so it runs 1:1 with the fsb so I can run 4-4-4-12 @ 800? In the SPD I only see multiplication options 2.5-4.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Have you moved or bump your case recently? If so re-seat the HSF.I would re-seat the HSF anyway.

EDIT: Good call Zeag!..... I didn't think of that.

with your cpu running at 3.6, you should set your ram mulitiplier to 2.0. your ram will be running at 800mhz, and you will be at 1:1.

ok thanks for the replys so far guys. Will 800 mhz at 4-4-4-12 be faster than what I have currently? Re-seat the heatsink ... it takes forever to install the zalman 9700! Should I also replace the thermal grease? I used arctic silver 5 instead of the stuff that the zalman came with, which is better?

Also, why do you think the core temps vary so much? Then can be 10+ degrees C. different at times.

clean the cpu and h/s very well. then add new compound, as little as possible, then reseat. change your ram multi, and go from there.

edit: change the multi to 2.0, that will give you the 800mhz.
