I just wanted to pop in and show a little picture of my 2900 when I took the cooler off, and show how much paste they used on mine

Yep, that is the stock heatsink on the right, and the chip on the left. Its about 20x what I used when I put AS5 back on it, where i used about a BB size amount. It had squished out everywhere, and was a huge hassle to clean off.

Im not sure what they use... Probably some in-house made stuff, or whatever they can get cheap.

Some cheap stuff that the factory puts on. I read in a mag "CPU" about how they removed the hs and replaced the paste. That is why I did it.

I picked MX-2 since not only is it better than artic silver 5, it is non-conductive and was real cheep as well.

yeah, says on the official site, gotta be true then,

thing, arctic silver conductive then???? or is it also none conductive,
and I do really like MX-2, it is cheaper (paid like 6 -7 bucks) and works very very well conpare to anything i bought b4, even AS5(which takes away 12bucks from my pocket and that's b4 tax), my BE at 3.4 only 33 34c with voltage 1.5v

good thing that i still have some mx-2 and GPU isn't gonna need much at all. this should cost me nothing til i need to buy more again.

hi there, some update, did the thing and temp drop around 3 - 6 degrees in general.
was running at 66c idle, now is bteween 59 -63
when adding speed on fan from 12xx rpm to 24xx rpm, it drop to 48c on idle,

will test some overclocking the tomorrow and also, some load temps, and will come back and post the result

attachment pics are some processes, note the paste is stock, i forgot to pic when i apply MX-2 stupid me, but yeah,

one thing to note tho, ASUS uses completely reference design, that stalker is nothing but sticker, u can see the flame from another side lol thought "atleast" take that out and design the picture, but no, it's nothing but stock ATI cooler with ASUS's stalker sticker, nothing more lol i find that interesting
