Home isn't anything like live because it isn't doing anything that live can do. Its something totally different. So no it's not the answer to live, no its wont challenge live, and no it has nothing to do with networking games on the level of live.

Live is integrated in to every aspect of the xbox system. almost everything you do on the xbox 360 has some type of live connection. So I'll say it again, Home and Live are not even closely related to each other. Home does not integrate your games the way live does nor does it even look like it will. It does looked like a more graphical version of the sims and nothing more. Also there isn't anything proving that home has any type of connection to live.

If anything Home is more of a challenge to the Miis on the Wii then it is to live.

i just dont look at playstation home has a game, i see it more has an interface
that connects users and IMO will be intwined with the vast majority of PS3's online gaming in the future. Just has you said live is a major part of 360, i think sony will try to push for the same effect on the ps3.

you cant honestly say that they have completly 0% nothing to do with eachother.

Honestly I can because I see no types of similarities whaat so ever. From what I've seen the major features of home in no way correlate to those of live. Home is more of a meeting area where you invite people to see how you decorated stuff. It offers videos that you can download and thats about it. The PSN is more in competition with live service then HOME is. (I'm talking about HOME outside of the PSN)

i can see your point there in terms of home and the PSN being seperate. Therefore making PSN more of a direct competitor.

spart you seem so threatened by home for some odd reason in this thread
It wasn't meant as a fanboy comment. I'm dead serious. If the new Xbox will be out by then then why does it even matter? That's like continuing to make x1800's as competition to 9800's. It makes little sense.

Also I'm not threatened. Why would I be? I'll be damned if I let some console feature bother me. I hate ignorant fan boys just as much as the next guy. I think it's ignorant for someone to say it's superior to XBL when not only does it keep getting delayed but it doesn't even have the same function as XBL.

your last paragraph was a very good point actually. especially that bolded bit. who even started this comparison to begin with?

you know whats funny...lately every time someone makes a comment about MS, sony, xbox, PS3, ati, nvidia WHATEVER...they ALWAYS have to back up their comment or statement with "but im not a fanboy" ... seriously, is that what it comes down to now? in the words of one of my heroes;

"have we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?"

i see i see, the way i read your first post seemed like you snapped an ignorant comment at me like saying "well your theory fails because 360 has this..". my bad..

in the end all im saying is i think sony will try to use home for more of there PSN networking. once again, just my opinion..

All I see is 360 owners who dont understand the functionality of Home.

You say it is not directly related to XBL, but it is in fact a 3d version of XBL. It takes all the integration of XBL and puts it into a 3d world.

Home has:
Game Invites - both lobby and direct invites
Chat - both voice and video
Trophies/Achievement system
a Marketplace - arguably better integrated than XBL's
an arcade - again arguably better integrated than XBL's

I am tired and have surely forgot to add some things Home includes that makes it direct competition for XBL and the features and integration offered on that system.

You do NOT have to walk everywhere in Home. You can teleport INSTANTLY to any part of Home. You can accept a game invite and INSTANTLY start up the game. You can accept a chat invite and INSTANTLY start up the chat process if it is video chat.

It is so much more than a "game" or "copy" of the Sims or Second Life. It is simply ignorant to continue to state otherwise. I did not even cover the features of Home that are unique and are unable to be offered in a text based menu system like XBL.

it wont be long until its release now. I'm thinking at the VERY LATEST august. But I think everyone should watch this new video to see just how much its worth waiting for. Imagine this as your online community on your PS3.. it's just going to take it to a whole new level:
